Regarding current licensing status of the series

I have some new info regarding this. I contacted the team of Herman van Veen (the dutch original creator of Alfred) about the status of the series, especially the japanese dub and the missing english episodes. The episodes are not "lost". They have copies of all the masters, including the japanese version, and hold the production rights. But they do not directly do any home media releases, they were always licensed out to any interested distributors.

Currently all licensing for the old series has been put on hold because there is an attempt by a dutch producer to revive the series through a "Juniors" sequel short series, following Alfred and Winnie's kids. They are currently looking for investors and people can get original CELs of the old series, aquire shares and own part of the Alfred franchise, meet Herman van Veen & the staff and more. https://www.alfredjodocuskwak.com/ I have read the pitch booklet for this and they plan for 2 seasons and a movie. It's interesting that in the pitch they even link the unofficial YT playlist to the english episodes which is missing those 2 currently "lost" episodes. That new series is planned to be internationally marketed, including an attempt to bring it to japan again. My guess is that they don't want to license it out for too cheap right now in case the new series becomes a hit and big companies want to license it as a prequel.

So the good news is that the episodes are not truly lost and just waiting to be licensed and distributed by a company. And that through this new series there might be a new interest in the old series, which may lead to a higher chance of any streaming service or home media distributor picking up the old series again. On the other side, should the new project fail, this might open up negotiations for potential affordable fan-driven licensing and distributions, like maybe through such sites as kickstarter.
