memories

I remember this one very vividly. I played a lot of both versions, but the 2009 version in particular was my favorite. I remember that, between the 2009 and 2011 versions, the enemies changed. As you can see there was one showing a plankton in a sort of tank or turret that shot deadly sea urchins that was in both versions; the 2009 version also had a fish zombie and a large jumping fish as enemies, whereas the 2011 version had a buff "tough guy" fish replacing the zombie (and I believe the jumping enemy was taken out entirely). Patrick, Spongebob, Squidward, and Sandy were the playable characters, and they all had the same hitbox except for SpongeBob who was shorter than the others. I also distinctly remember that the item that gave invincibility (like the Star in Mario), used to be a blue token with an asterisk type star on it, but it would glitch the audio when picked up. The surviving video of the 2009 build shows that, when this glitch was fixed, the appearance of the star item changed to a green token with a white five-pointed star. As other users confirmed, there was a background that seemed to take after the TV show showing the world covered in bubblegum, but the pink gum was also usable *in the builder* to slow down the player and reduce traction. Different block colors had different types of gum--as the YouTube video shows green blocks had orange gum, for instance. There were also spikes that would kill you upon contact, as were cloud blocks and other platform blocks that did not have hard collision and could be jumped through. In the 2009 build the only possible "objective" to complete a level was to reach the goal, the wooden door with a steering wheel on it. In the 2011 build this goal remained and was supplemented with the goals of collecting all coins in the level and killing all enemies in the level. Sorry for rambling, just trying to contribute everything I remember. I really hope it gets found, though it'll be a challenge to restore because the actual Builder required you to submit your finished levels to Nickelodeon staff for approval (they would check the title and level for inappropriate content before they would allow other people to see it). The whole process of submitting levels would probably have to be removed. I hope it's tracked down someday!
