Cube Zone (Lost unreleased SEGA Master System game; 1988)
Cube Zone was a game developed by SEGA and planned to release in 1988 alongside their other first-party titles for the SEGA Master System, but ended up being cancelled for unknown reasons.
The game was announced in the spring 1988 issue of Tonka's SEGA catalogue, being featured in it's "Adventure" section. The game is described as having "Colorful, explosive graphics", although with no actual description of it's gameplay.
Gameplay
Going by the catalogue's description, it is to be assumed this would have been some kind of space-shooter, with mentions of defending a moon from alien invaders. Likely, the game might have been a clone of Williams' Defender.
Availability
The game was supposedly set for a July 1988 release, for a price of 29.99$ seen in a Cotter & Company mail-order form, as well as being listed as product no. 5107.
Other than being mentioned by one Tonka catalogue in 1988, no other information regarding the game's gameplay, release, or cancellation has surfaced online. No TV commercials or advertisements in other magazines were produced either. Likely the game would have also had a worldwide release considering that Tonka was the distributor of the Master System in the United States.
