On November 13th, 1987, GMA unveiled its new station ID at the Philippine International Convention Center during the celebration of Vilma Santos’ 25th anniversary in showbiz.<ref name="manila"> [https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=8cBNEdFwSQkC&dat=19871203&printsec=frontpage&hl=en Manila Standard December 3, 1987 issue.] Retrieved 11 May '23</ref> 

The station ID was made to tease the tallest and then-unfinished 777-foot transmitter, "Tower of Power”. The transmitter was completed in November 1988.

The next sequence shows laser beams shooting up from GMA’s provincial transmitters subsequently forming the Tower of Power transmitter resting on the Philippine map.
