Gun Mu (Chinese: 棍母, English: Otto's Mom) is a meme photo that started spreading on the Chinese internet in 2019. The woman in the picture looks a lot like the Chinese League of Legends pro player "电棍otto" (Hou Guoyu, 侯国玉), which led people online to call her "Gun Mu" (meaning "Otto's Mom"). There's no proof behind this nickname, though. Some online investigations over the past few years found that the photo was taken with a phone as an ID photo. However, no one knows where the original photo is, where it was taken, who took it, or who the woman in the picture is.[1]

According to research by Bilibili user "法兰西人工智能" has been confirmed that this photo was taken using a mobile phone for an ID photo. It has also been confirmed that the middle-aged woman in the photo is a sanitation worker at a municipal public health company in Shenzhen, China. However, there is no additional evidence to further verify the identity of the woman in the photo. Some netizens speculate that the photo might have been taken by a fan of Otto and then uploaded to social media by chance. But since the identity of the original uploader cannot be traced, this remains unverified.[2]
