Journey to GloE is an unreleased CGI animated film based off a line of glow up teddy bears.[1]

History

It was part of a 4 film deal with Universal Pictures and Cepia LLC that featured Quest for Zhu, The Power of Zhu, and The Secret of Zhu. Only the first film was released.

On February 8, 2016, Splash Entertainment acquired worldwide distribution rights for Journey to Glo E from Cepia LLC, the company known for its ZhuZhu Pets brand. The film, a 45-minute animated TV movie, follows a girl named Lilly as she discovers that her stuffed bear can come to life. Lilly embarks on an adventurous journey to the magical land of Glo E to save her younger sister, Piper, from the nefarious villain Gloeless. Along the way, she befriends whimsical creatures known as Gloelins, who help her realize the transformative power of imagination.[2][3]

Mevelyn Noriega, President of Distribution at Splash Entertainment, expressed pride in the project, emphasizing its potential to inspire children's creativity. He stated, "When children embrace their power of imagination amazing things can happen." Russ Hornsby, founder of Cepia, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the film's alignment with their mission to create magical experiences for kids.[4]

The animated film was showcased at the Kidscreen Summit in 2016, promoting its release and distribution potential. However, prior legal issues may have affected its availability. An earlier lawsuit filed by Cepia against Build-A-Bear Workshop over alleged patent and copyright infringement regarding similar light-up toys posed significant challenges. Although the lawsuit was settled in August 2013, details of the settlement were not disclosed, and concerns surrounding ownership rights and brand competition lingered.[5][6]

Availability

As of now, the status of Journey to Glo E remains uncertain, with no further updates on its release or distribution following the acquisition by Splash Entertainment.
