Kung Mawawala Ka (found Filipino drama TV series; 2002-2003)
Kung Mawawala Ka (international title: A World Without You) is a political drama and romance TV series by GMA Network. It premiered on April 7[1] or 22, 2002[2] and concluded on June 6, 2003. It was directed by Joel Lamangan and mainly stars Sunshine Dizon and Cogie Domingo.
Aired during the weekdays, it was described as “the most ambitious teledrama” of GMA-7 then. It was the first regular teleserye of the late Eddie Garcia who played the character of Leandro Montemayor. It competed with ABS-CBN’s Pangako Sa ’Yo.[3] The series won the Best Drama Series Award on the 16th PMPC Star Awards for TV with Eddie Garcia winning the Best Drama Actor award and Hilda Koronel winning the Best Drama Actress award.
It was known that Sunshine Dizon was rushed to the hospital due to hyperventilation during the taping of one of the episodes due to her and Cogie's kissing scene.[3]
Plot
It is described as a modern retelling of the Romeo and Juliet story personified by Rosa Camila Montemayor (Sunshine Dizon) and Carlito Valiente (Cogie Domingo). Rosa disappointed her father by falling in love with Carlito. Camilla's father, Gov. Leandro Montemayor (Eddie Garcia), uses his power to take her away from the son of his political rival, Cong. Carlos Valiente (Vic Vargas). A struggle also happens among Leandro Montemayor’s women: Iluminada (Liza Lorena), his legal wife, to whom he has three children, Ernestina (Princess Punzalan), Alberto (Raymond Bagatsing), and Paloma (Alessandra de Rossi); Czarina (Gloria Diaz), the original mistress and mother to Lucinda (Ara Mina) and Amanda (Sharmaine Arnaiz); and finally Alicia (Hilda Koronel), the love of Leandro's life and mother to Rosa Camilla.
The story begins with the failed murder attempt on Gov. Montemayor’s life which consequently makes the three women and all their children suspects in the investigation.[3]
