Based on episodes 51 and 52, "The Battle of Vermilion" parts one and two, of the direct-to-video series, a pilot was recorded by Ocean Productions in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was screened at Anime Expo 2000, Sakuracon 2000 and Anime Central 2000. Voice actor Michael Dobson lists himself as a principal cast member on his resume.
In 2014, YouTube user trancemassacre uploaded a four-minute clip from the pilot. The entire production was uploaded onto Veoh by GalacticPageTurner on May 22nd, 2020.
