Mad Super Special (partially found animated pilot adaptation of satirical magazine gags; 1988)
Mad Super Special is the pilot of a cartoon based on the parody comedy magazine MAD. It was developed by Hanna-Barbera in 1988 for a possible TV series.[1]
Premise
All adaptations of the Magazine for a TV adapation, either cartoon or live-action, were skit shows, with the cartoon ones having several styles of animation for each segment. [2]
From what can be perceived from the short clip and the pitch script comics, this interaction seems to have a more episodic history line, with most of the gags happening in the same scenery and in one consistent style of animation.
Availability
The pilot has never been aired anywhere, nor was released into any form of physical media.[3]
Currently, the only material that is available from the pilot include a 2 minute long clip from an animator's channel, and a copy of the pitch script for Hanna-Barbera, with mentions how the Mascot Alfred Newman would be used, Spy vs. Spy, and History lines on comic form, along with other details.
