New Looney Tunes "To Catch a Fairy" (partially found unaired Toon City version of Warner Bros animated series episode; 2014)
New Looney Tunes (formerly known as Wabbit during its first season) is an animated Looney Tunes television series from Warner Bros. Animation developed by Erik Kuska. The series aired on Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and Boomerang's SVOD service from 2015 to 2020. It is now proceeded by HBO Max's Looney Tunes Cartoons.
Sometime after the series was first announced in March 2014 under the title Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production, a different version of the episode "To Catch a Fairy" was made and animated by Toon City.[1] This version showed a slightly different character design for Bugs Bunny, along with different backgrounds.
While it was initially thought to be a pilot for the series, Sean Petrilak, director of Wabbit/New Looney Tunes, confirmed via email that their was no pilot for the series, due to the high cost of producing animation. He went on to explain that the episode was used to "try out to different studios", and that they did not end up going with Toon City.
Availability
In early 2015, clips from Toon City's version of the episode appeared on Boomerang UK's 2015 preview promo, this would go on to be uploaded to YouTube around the same time, but was removed due to a copyright claim from Cartoon Network. For a while, this promo would be lost until it was re-uploaded by YouTuber OrangeToad Too, who obtained it from another user named zpc. The pilot itself has not yet surfaced online in its entirety, and the only other material that has resurfaced are some additional stills.
