Ninja Hattori-kun is a manga series written and illustrated by Motoo Abiko (Fujiko Fujio A, originally credited as Fujiko Fujio) which was serialized between 1964 and 1988. It is widely known for both the original 1981 anime series and the 2013 remake series.
The series was however, originally adapted into a television drama by Toei in 1966, with a follow-up series titled "Ninja-Hattori-kun + Ninja Monster Jippo" from 1967-1968.
Availability
Unlike its successor series, whose entire original stock of film positives were kept and released on DVD in 2004, the first series was preserved much more poorly by Toei, with only Episodes 1 and 14's film positives being kept by the company and released in 2019. (with Episode 14's positives also having an unknown fate until 2010)
As for the rest of the original series, its is currently lost with no known copies in either Toei's storage or in private hands.[1]
