Parouk S. Hussin is a Filipino politician, doctor, and former rebel who was the Governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) from 2001 to 2005.

In 2004, Hussin launched a bid for senator under the party "Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD (1992))" by former president Fidel V. Ramos, a member party of the coalition known as "Koalisyon ng Katapatan at Karanasan sa Kinabukasan (K4)", but however it was defeated by other candidates of the coalition. His campaign was also coincided with its election ad using cartoon animation. It is one of the two candidates (the other was presidential candidate Raul Roco) to feature election ads during the 2004 election season with cartoon animation.

Premise

The commercial was run at 15 seconds long and it begins with a group of people running while in war, a cartoon version of Doc himself superimposed in the group of soldiers with a Muslim kid needing help. The next frame showing soldiers running and holding guns, then a hospital is shown and the doctor talked to a patient. The discussion between the doctor and the patient was supposed to said like this:

Patient: Doc C, Kailan kaya tayo makakaroon ng katahimikan? (Doc C, When can we have peace?)
Doctor: Pag tayo mga Pilipino ay nakahintidihan. (When we Filipinos understand.)

The commercial ends with a real-life picture of Doc himself and it also ends with the graphic saying "PAROUK "Doc" HUSSIN FOR SENATOR", the illustration of Doc himself and the voiceover saying "Parouk "Doc" Hussin sa Senado".

Availability

The commercial was aired nationwide during commercial breaks for notable shows including but not limited to Eat Bulaga, TV Patrol, Masayang Tanghali Bayan, Frontpage:Ulat ni Mel Tiangco, 24 Oras, ABS-CBN Insider and Saksi. The commercial remained lost for 20 years, until April 29, 2024, when Dann Garcia uploaded a copy of the ad to YouTube[1].
