'''''Rescue 911''''' was a docudrama television series that aired on CBS from 1989 to 1996. Episodes typically ran 60 minutes and contained several stories of emergency situations that often involved calls to 9-1-1. Reruns continue to air in syndication on PlutoTV (as of 2023), but the syndicated episodes have been edited to 30 minutes and omit many of the stories that aired in the series' original run (including the entire [[Rescue 911 (partially lost 7th season episodes of CBS docudrama series, 1996)|seventh season]]). Almost all of the lost stories from Seasons 1-6 have surfaced online, but one is still missing.

==Episode==
The missing story was reportedly shown on the original broadcast of Season 2, Episode 8, which aired November 13, 1990 on CBS. In it, an Oregon man discovers his infant son's bedroom is on fire, and he must break through two windows to save him.<ref name="morning">[https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/283477089/ Episode listing in ''The Morning Call'' (Allentown, PA)]</ref><ref name="item">[https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/668924102/ Episode listing in ''The Item'' (Sumter, SC)]</ref><ref name="tvguide">''TV Guide''. Pp. 142-143.</ref> According to a viewer who seemingly references the story, the fire was caused by an electrical cord in the child's room.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwZqseLPI-M Viewer testimonial from the "100 Lives Saved" special]</ref> Reruns of the episode omitted this story and showed a repeat story from Season 1 in its place, in which a woman is trapped in her smoke-filled house after her TV catches fire.
