Introduction

Me contro Te ("Me against You") is an Italian duo consisting of two young YouTubers, Luigi Calagna (aka "Luì") and Sofia Scalia (aka "Sofì"). They rose to fame in Italy with their entertaining videos that feature challenges, vlogs, and music. The duo started their YouTube channel in 2014 and quickly gained a massive audience of young children. Since then, they have expanded their brand with the release of several successful books, four hit movies, and two popular music albums. Currently, the band is touring throughout Italy, bringing their music to fans across the country.

Me contro Te has become a household name in Italy and has captured the hearts of many young viewers with their positivity, creativity, and humor.

Before starting their YouTube channel, Luigi Calagna was involved in music and had formed a Green Day cover band and had written some unreleased tracks, including the song "Trying to Say".

History

In May of 2015, Me contro Te released a video in which Luigi revealed his past involvement in a rock band. At the timestamp 1:59, the video features a montage of pictures from his teenage years, showcasing Luigi's previous performances. Additionally, a snippet of the studio recording of "Trying to Say" plays in the background. The video also includes Luigi and Sofia singing few lines of the song's chorus which goes:

"So what I'm trying to say, we gotta [incomprehensible]".

This is the only partial audio available of the song, and it remains unclear whether the song was ever publicly released under any label. Also, it's not officially confirmed that the song name is indeed "Trying to Say", however, while it's possible that the song may have had a different title, the repeated use of this phrase suggests that it was a significant element of the composition and may have been chosen as the title by the band.

About the rock band

Luigi formed the band during his teenage years, likely between 2007 and 2011, in his hometown of Partinico, Sicily.

While some details of the band, including its name, have not been disclosed yet, in a interview made with "Leggo"^[1], Luigi confirmed that he used to play Green Day songs in his rock band during his teenage years and that he still enjoys playing the electric guitar. For Luigi, releasing the duo's first album, "Il Fantadisco dei Me contro Te", was a dream come true.

"Quando ero un ragazzino avevo una rock band, facevamo cover dei Green Day. Suono ancora la chitarra, questo cd era il mio sogno."

When translated goes:

"Back when I was a young boy, I had a rock band, and we played covers of Green Day songs. I still play the guitar, and this album was my dream."

Currently, there aren't any other audio samples of covers and songs performed by Luigi's rock band.
