Who's Your Daddy? is a 2005 reality show that aired on Fox. It featured a woman, TJ Myers, who had been adopted when she was six-weeks old. During the show, she was introduced to eight men, one of whom was her long-lost biological father. After spending time with each man, she had to pick which one she believed was her father. If she chose correctly, she would get $100,000 and if she guessed wrong, the man she incorrectly guessed as being her father would get the $100,000 prize. [1]

Background

The show drew considerable backlash and public outcry and proved controversial before it even aired, with many considering the premise to be in poor taste and offensive to adoptees. Adoption organizations and supporters protested the show and a Fox affiliate station in North Carolina refused to air the program.[2]

In its criticism of the show, Entertainment Weekly noted “We’re sure that the lawsuit that follows, claiming emotional distress, will make an equally dramatic special.” [3]

The program was hosted by English actress Finola Hughes and was intended to be part of a 6-episode season, but after the controversy plans for it to be an ongoing series were scrapped and the remaining five episodes were shelved. The original special is not widely available, and none of the five unaired episodes have come to light.

Availability

The show is not readily available online and has not re-aired since its original broadcast.

Actor Jon S. Robbins, who played one of the “fake fathers” posted a short clip of himself from the special on his YouTube channel.
