Status: Partially Lost

Wirtul@ndia was a Polish live action/animated children's television interactive series that aired from September 14, 2002, to May 27, 2006, on TVP1. It aimed to audience aged 5-12. The show was produced by TVP3 Wrocław and created by Cezary Harasimowicz and Ilona Prasał. The reruns were later aired on TVP Polonia and TVP ABC (only fourth season).[1] The series had 4 seasons and 62 episodes. Every episode lasted around 20 minutes.

Premise

The show was hosted by M@ster (performed by Tadeusz Szymków until 2005 and later by Paweł Zdun) who escaped from a destroyed planet of Eurydycja and created two computer ghosts - a smart Bitek voiced by Wioletta Jabłońska and slightly egoistic Bajtek voiced by Wojciech Ziemiański. His goal was to generate a new virtual computer world based on drawings that were sent by viewers - a titular Wirtul@ndia. Every episode four of the sent drawings were selected, one of them was chosen in the contest as the best one. As the series went on, the world was more expanded, and more characters were introduced such as Kula Smakula or Chang.

The show had also educational segments based on the episode's themes.

In the third season, a whole Wirtul@ndia was "thrown into a cosmic trash bin" and only Bitek and Bajtek survived making the whole world needed to be created again from scratch.

In the fourth and last season, the episodes were entirely animated and M@ster stopped being the host.

Reception

The series was really popular in Poland and even got awarded in "Świat Przyjazny Dziecku" (Child Friendly World) contest in 2004.[2].

Availability

Because of the show's popularity most of the episodes are available on the unofficial YouTube channel dedicated to preserve the show. Only eight episodes (the first one and 13-19 ones) are currently lost.
