ZOOM is a video calling website created by Eric Yuan in 2007 but was mostly used in 2020 to 2021. Because of this, internet trolls and hackers can easily access the calls because it was only protected by a sinle password that can be easily provided.

Backround

On May 2020, YouTuber @benoftheweek posted a video titled hacking preeschool ZOOM classes… in which he shows himself infiltrating and disturbing Zoom classes. A follow-up video was made soon enough titled hacking highschool ZOOM classes posted in Jan 10 2021. The third and last one called “hacking Zoom classes for the LAST TIME” was uploaded as a premire on April 18 2021. As the years went on, the “hacking preschool zoom classes” was renamed to other titles. These series of videos were seen as nostalgic to viewers who watched the videos.

Controversy

On August 27th, 2020, the CBS Channel mentioned these controversy among many more other zoom hacking incidents. On the youtube upload, benoftheweek stated in the comments section ” i may have dropped out of journalism in college but it seems like yall did too, i never HACKED any zoom calls and it explicity states that it the description of the video.” Benoftheweek soon made an episode on his podcast "I ALMOST DIED" stating that he would never make any videos of hacking into Zoom meetings ever again, distancing himself from the situation. 25~ months later, he deleted his "ZOOM hacking" videos and soon addressed this in his podcast "Dramamama".
