Origins & Plot
Skatoony was a British animated quiz show that pitted 3 real-life child contestants against 3 animated contestants in 3 rounds of quizzing, it aired on Cartoon Network from 2006-2008 with reruns lasting until August 2017, throughout the show's lifespan it managed to get several overseas versions including a Hindi version which aired on Pogo & Cartoon Network India from 2007-2010.
Production
Originally, it was believed that 26 episodes of the Hindi adaptation were made, spanning across 2 seasons. However, after clips of "Halloween" and "Stoopid Santa" were discovered, we now know that at least 2 episodes of Season 3 were made. Currently, it is unknown if the remaining 12 episodes of Season 3 were produced so at the moment, the episode count is 28.
On August 31st, 2007, a TBI article was published which stated that Cartoon Network had commissioned a Hindi version of Skatoony.
It is unknown when Season 1 exactly premiered but we can assume it may have aired around Late 2007 to Early 2008.
According to an Afaqs! article published on September 18th, 2008, the first Hindi season of Skatoony was a huge success which led to a second season being commissioned by POGO.
The second Hindi season of Skatoony began airing on September 21st, 2008. It is unknown how successful the second season was due to no further news articles being made regarding the Hindi version.
Skatoony's third Hindi season is the most obscure out of the three seasons, only 2 episodes were confirmed to exist thanks to 2 clips of season 3 that were uploaded to an animator's YouTube channel back in 2011. Thanks to the Sanskritti Productions LinkedIn profile, we know that work on the show continued to as late as November-December 2010, we're unsure if that was the time that Season 3 aired, if it wasn't then this means that the show had begun airing Season 3 sometime in 2011.
The adaptation was made by Miditech Studios Pvt Ltd. However another studio, Frames Factory, uploaded the show's intro in 2016 on YouTube & Vimeo. Vivi5, yet another studio, featured a short clip of S1E7 - To The Quiz Cave on one of their reels back in 2015
Differences
This version of the show is rather notable as it uses brand new music produced solely for the Hindi version, not only that, but different names for characters were used (Chudd Chudders became Chak Chakachak, Tony Eagle-Eyes became Mr Chadda and The Earl became Jimmy Kundu)
Completely original characters were also made solely for the Hindi adaptation, such as:
Chakram & Bhootal who were the replacement characters for Dr Jerkhill & Mr Hives.
And Gudiya Devi (Roughly translating to "Doll Goddess") who was the replacement for Hyacinth. These new characters were designed by James Fox & Suvrat Tandon
Prize
The prize which was obtainable upon winning an episode of this version was a Sony PlayStation 3.
