Get Your Free TVs is the first known tech demo for the game Half-Life 2. It showed off what VALVe was working on with their new Source Engine.

History

  • 2000
    • Get Your Free TVs is shown at SIGGRAPH 2000[1]. Sadly, it was shown behind closed doors to members of the press.
  • 2001
    • A shortened version of the demo was probably shown here
  • 2003
    • The Half-Life 2 Beta gets leaked, and along with this, some assets to Get Your Free TVs. This is the first, and as of now only, time assets for Get Your Free TVs got into the public's hands.
  • 2004
    • An image is released, showing multiple Gasmask Citizens running from the "Strider" enemy from Half-life 2, which has already killed a few.
    • One of the 2 known images is published in a GameSpot article[2]
    • Concept art is released in the book Half-Life 2: Raising The Bar.
