In the 1960s, Soekarno (also known by the name Sukarno from a spelling mistake), the first president of Indonesia at that time, was tried to be overthrown by the CIA because of his closeness to the Soviet Union.

KGB's sex tape

The CIA and the Soviet KGB intelligence both had discontented and vexed feelings towards Soekarno, the then-president of Indonesia at that time, due to Soekarno's behavior, governance, and attitude not pleasing both the West and the Soviets. Albeit the majority of the population in Indonesia has an apparent large majority of communists, the Soviets and Soekarno still in various degrees, don't see eye to eye with each other.

Soviet KGB intelligence agents had tried to please Soekarno by joining their Soviet alliance but after a series of attempts, failed. This would later cause the Soviet KGB to plan and 'blackmail' Soekarno by making and fabricating pornographic films starring Soekarno, all due to Soekarno not wanting to side with the Soviet Union. The KGB blackmailed Soekarno by filming him with "a flight attendant" during his visit to Moscow in 1960 to discredit his image in front of the Indonesians and foment a revolution.

When the Russians confronted him about the sex tape, Soekarno asked to watch it and was surprisingly pleased of the fabricated sex tape. He even asked for additional copies of the sex tape and show it back to his country.

CIA's sex tape

When the CIA heard that the Russians were trying to bring Soekarno down with pornographic films, they also went ahead and made pornographic films of Soekarno.

The CIA manipulated photos of Soekarno and a Soviet flight attendant to tarnish Soekarno's image. The idea for the pornographic video came from a flight attendant who boarded a plane with Sukarno on his way to the Soviet Union. The CIA reported that Soekarno was involved in a scandal with a flight attendant who was an intelligence agent. The CIA eventually produced its own pornographic film, paying actors with face masks similar to Soekarno who were imported from Indonesia.

The film to tarnish Sukarno's image was produced for the CIA by former FBI agents Robert Maheu and Howard Hughes. While Maheu has no experience in making any pornographic films nor has a degree in filmography, he does know an actor by the name of Chuck Kayes that resembles but is not identical to the Indonesian leader. The actor, with the help of makeup artist Bing Cosby, was set to play Soekarno in the film..

The film would go unreleased, but it was reported that images from the film has resurfaced in numerous international publications back then., though this remains unclear. It was also known that the film's title is called "Happy Days", that being the title is still relatively unknown..

While CIA's expectation of the film is to tarnish Soekarno's image and reputation, the reception from the Indonesian people aren't what they had anticipated, as Indonesians laughed and mocked the CIA of it, and unironically had a positive impact on Soekarno's reputation.

Availability

Soekarno had been ousted from the presidency in 1967 and passed away three years later on June 1st, 1970.

While this has been an ongoing rumor, the existence of the CIA and KGB's film is still unclear and remains unreleased to the general public.
