The Great Balloon Race is a 1977 adventure film from director, Chris Robinson, who previously helmed the currently lost Catch the Black Sunshine (in its original form), and The Intruder, which was formerly lost until it was found and released on Blu-ray by Garagehouse. It is his fourth directorial input that unlike the others, has not been released in any format after its theatrical run through January 3 till April 29th of the year 1977.
Background
The film premiered in many movie theatres during its run including the Boulevard Drive In Theatre and Budco Twin City Cinemas in Florida. The exact plot for this movie isn't well known, but from what the title suggests, it's mostly just hot air balloons racing over the Devil's Triangle, and not much else.
Aftermath
Despite its stellar cast made of big names like Ted Cassidy, Phyllis Diller, Norm Crosby, Cab Calloway, and Frank Gifford, and it premiered twice in theatres, the movie is nowhere to be found. According to old newspaper clippings citing back to May 4th and June 5th of 1977, it received negative feedback from critics that may have sealed its fate today.

- Ted Cassidy, who played Lurch in the Addams Family TV show, stars in the movie in an unknown role. However, in 1973, there was an episode for the animated show for Addams Family that was also titled "The Great Balloon Race" that is not related to this movie.
