In 2002 Liam Gallagher provided his vocals for Death in Vegas' track "Scorpio Rising" from the album of the same name. The singer then suggested that Richard Fearless and Tim Holmes could work with Oasis on the band's upcoming album.
The work commenced in December 2003/January 2004 at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall and lasted four weeks. However the group was dissatisfied with the results of those sessions, and eventually their next album, titled "Don't Believe the Truth", was produced by Dave Sardy. Four songs written during the time with Death in Vegas were used during the sessions with Sardy:
- "Turn Up the Sun",
- "Mucky Fingers",
- "A Bell Will Ring" and
- "The Meaning of Soul"
The songs, however, were either further worked on or completely re-recorded during those sessions. Original recordings done with Fearless and Holmes, as well as the rest of the material created during that period, remain unreleased.
