In 1998, concurrent with the 45th anniversary of the introduction of television in the Philippines occurred in 1953, ABS-CBN created a special station ID to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Philippine independence.

Premise

On a black satin background, the gold rings is spinning and a straight line on a box when they zoom out, then the "ABS" and "CBN" text completing the logo, the logo zooms out when the "In Service of the Filipino" slogan appears on the bottom. The Philippine flag was superimposed over the logo and the slogan. When the ID completes, a red satin background showing the finished logo on the left, the National Centennial Commission-authorized Philippine Centennial logo in the middle, and the Sarimanok stamp (commissioned by Philpost in 1996) transforms to the Philippine flag on the right, along with the messaging on the top ends the ID. The ID also has the 1993 Sarimanok era theme and voiceover saying "Ito po ang ABS-CBN. Patuloy nalilikod sa sambayang Filipino, sa Ika-100 taon ng kaunahang republika sa buong Asya, at pag-salubong ng bansa sa bagong siglo."

Another variant was also made for the network PSA for the 1998 Presidential Elections, with the same animation and a different satin background, the same musical theme was heard and the voiceover saying "Ito po ay isang pa rin muting handog ng ABS-CBN, sa pagdiriwang ng Ika-100 taon ng kaunahang republika sa buong Asya, at sa papataguyod sa kinabukasan ng kabataan Pilipino."

Availability

This ID served as a station ID before the program starts from January 1 to December 31, 1998. However in January to February of that same year, a network crosspromotion countdown bumper for the forthcoming inaugural season of the Metropolitan Basketball Association was aired before this ID, and from October to December in the same year, another countdown bumper related to the new millennium was also aired before the same ID as well. This ID was also aired in tandem with the 45th Philippine Television Anniversary station ID from October to December in the same year. On January 26, 2019, View on the 3rd - Jojo Bailon found the ID (the MBA countdown/ID combo variant) on an sign-on aircheck of ABS-CBN on February 11, 1998.[1] An high-quality version of the ID was also found by UndustFixation in August of 2024 and premiered on September 1, 2024.
