LittleBigPlanet “SpongeBob PSP” Commercial refers to a small clip of SpongeBob playing LittleBigPlanet on the PSP that premiered on a Comedy Central special

Background

On November 18, 2009, all four Viacom channels hosted 24 hours of SpongeBob Squarepants called “Think Happy Day”. Comedy Central, being one of the channels, devoted itself to the wildest, most absurd and well known rumors of the show named “Captain’s Special”. Some of the rumors that were from these selected episodes were:

• The rumor that SpongeBob is already around 20.
• The rumor that SpongeBob sat down on a copier without pants at a company party.
• The rumor that Sandy is in a witness protection program.
• The rumor that Mr. Krabs is taking drugs
• The rumor that SpongeBob is gay

A YouTube video by user, JANTista999, posted a video from one of the commercials on the same day “Captain Secrets” aired but if you go to the 29 second mark, you’ll see a one second clip of SpongeBob playing LittleBigPlanet on the PSP. The PSP seen in the commercial specifically is a PSP 1000.

It is not known what is it advertising about LittleBigPlanet or why it was there after a completely different commercial. But a possible theory is that the special was airing SpongeBob related stuff, making the commercials have to be SpongeBob related as the YouTube video was made on the same day that Captain Special happened.

Availability

As mentioned before, only one second of the commercial exist as there’s a poor cut at the end as a mistake. It is widely believed that JANTista999 has the whole recording of the commercial, but since they’re not active anymore after 2009, it’s unlikely to contact them and ask if they have anymore recordings of the episode. Though the only possible way for this commercial to be found is if it was aired internationally.
