PIGGY: Hunt was a Steam game made in collaboration with MiniToon Inc. and Shaggy Doge. It was mainly based off of it's Roblox variant, Piggy, in which players had to escape a map while being chased by a Humanoid animal. The game was sadly taken offline due to lack of players.

Background

Before PIGGY: Hunt, there was a game on Roblox simply called "Piggy" by Kohl Couture, AKA MiniToon. The game was very similar to the popular horror game, Granny, in which you had to escape from a house while being chased. Unlike Granny, however, you were chased by a humanoid pig. The game grew in popularity after Roblox YouTuber Flamingo played it. This caused the game to grow in popularity, becoming the fastest game to reach one billion visits for over 3 years before being overtaken by Blade Ball, another popular game.

Sometime in 2020, MiniToon teamed up with toy company PhatMojo to produce a toyline of the game's characters. With the toys came a DLC code, in which you were supposed to be able to redeem it for cool rewards, such as new skins or Piggy tokens. Unfortunately, however, MiniToon forgot to check with Roblox first, and he couldn't put the codes into the game. MiniToon then teamed up with Shaggy Doge, and about a year later, PIGGY: Hunt was announced to come to Steam. On September 14th, 2021, the game was released for testing. Certain people were granted access to the game in order to test it out before released by applying. The tests lasted from September 14th to October 13th of 2021. A month later, the game was released. For more information about the game's history, you can go on to the Piggy Wiki's article about it here.

Eventually, sometime in late 2023/early 2024, the main game's servers were taken offline and the game could no longer be played on Steam.

Known Information

  • The tests were separate from the main game, and did not share the same application.
    • When the tests ended, they were pulled from release and could no longer be downloaded and would give an error code. When the game officially released, the tests could still not be downloaded.
  • With the exception of one build, there are NO archives of the game's playtests.
  • The tests contains certain textures only in the Playtest builds, including early textures of characters that were never added to the game and removed in the final version, such as Teacher, Little Brother, etc.
  • The tests contains concept art and potential screenshots of early builds.
  • Only certain people were granted access to the builds, and even fewer were granted access to record them.

Potential leads and outcomes.

  • Phil564 - The uploader of the mentioned test. When contacted about the builds, he found out he could not download them due to the tests being over.
  • Shaggy Doge - Sent email from website, no response.
  • RoastCM - Contacted about builds, didn't have them.
  • TanookiAlex - Contacted about builds, said they would look around. Currently waiting for an answer.

The Problem

The problem with these old builds is that not many people will have them archived. While Piggy is popular, this might decrease the chances of stuff being found. Due to immense popularity, people most likely would've updated to the latest version. Even with this in mind, Phil564, the uploader of the archived build, said the test didn't work, which makes it likely that could've happened to other people as well.
