Dragon Ball Z: V.R. V.S was an arcade game based on the Dragon Ball Z series, released only in Japan in 1994 developed by company Banpresto. The game proved to be popular enough for developers to attempt to port the game to the Panasonic 3DO later that year.

The game had been covered in Weekly Shōnen Jump issue No. 11, as well as a French magazine showcasing a convention with kids playtesting it. They claimed the game was to be called Dragon Ball Z: Cell To Kogeki Da, however the photo taken of the convention showcased shows the game would be called Dragon Ball Z 3DOでセルと対決だ! (lit. Dragon Ball Z: The Confrontation and I, Cell, in 3D0!).

Gameplay

The game would have likely played nearly identical to the original. A one-on-one fighting game featuring Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Future Trunks. The game allegedly takes place within the events of the "Cell Games" story arc of Dragon Ball Z. Though in this particular version, the final boss of the game would have been Perfect Cell instead of the character "Majin Ozotto" who was an original character created for this game.

Availability

This version was showcased once at a convention in Japan the same year the original game was released. It's cancellation was most likely due to the 3DO selling extremely poorly in Japan, and the game has not resurfaced anywhere since.
