Status: Partially Found

PIGGY: Hunt was a Steam game made in collaboration with MiniToon Inc. and Shaggy Doge. It was mainly based on the popular Roblox fanmade game, Piggy, by Roblox user MiniToon, in which players had to escape a map while being chased by a humanoid animal. Sadly, the game was taken offline due to a lack of players.

Background

Before PIGGY: Hunt, there was a game on Roblox simply called "Piggy" by Kohl Couture, AKA MiniToon. The game was very similar to the popular mobile horror game, Granny, in which you had to escape from a house while being chased by being chased by a grandmother-like figure. Unlike Granny, however, you were chased by a humanoid pig. The game grew in popularity after Roblox YouTuber Flamingo played it, with several others playing the game. This caused the game to grow in popularity, becoming the fastest game to reach one billion visits for over 3 years before being overtaken by Blade Ball, another popular game in Roblox.

Sometime in 2020, MiniToon teamed up with the toy company PhatMojo to produce a toy line for the game's characters. With the toys came a DLC code, which you were supposed to be able to redeem for cool rewards, such as new skins. Unfortunately, however, various issues with the developer and Roblox kept things in a commotion. MiniToon then teamed up with Shaggy Doge, and about a year later, PIGGY: Hunt was announced to come to Steam.

On September 14th, 2021, the game was released for testing. Certain people were granted access to the game in order to test it out before it was released by applying. The tests lasted from September 14th to October 13th of 2021. A month later, the game was released.

Eventually, sometime in late 2023, the main game's servers were taken offline and the game could no longer be played on Steam.

Availability

The problem with these old builds is that not many people will have them archived. While Piggy is popular, this might decrease the chances of stuff being lost. Due to immense popularity, people most likely would've updated to the latest version and not have them archived anywhere.

Known Information

  • The tests were separate from the main game and did not share the same application.
    • When the tests ended, they were pulled from release and could no longer be downloaded and would give an error code. When the game was officially released, the tests could still not be downloaded.
  • With the exception of one build, there are NO archives of the games playtests.
  • The tests contains certain files only in the Playtest builds, including early textures of characters that were never added to the game and removed in the final version, such as Teacher, Little Brother, etc.
  • Phil564, the uploader of the archived build, said the download didn't work, which makes it likely that could've happened to other people as well.
  • The tests contain concept art and potential screenshots of early builds.
  • Recordings of pre-release versions (early trailers, YouTube playthroughs, etc.) do exist online. Confirmed pre-release versions with recordings currently include 0.7.0, 0.7.12, 0.7.14, 0.7.15, 0.7.20, 0.7.34, 0.7.5, 0.8.4, 0.8.5, 0.8.6, 0.8.8.
    • Only certain people (YouTubers, staff members, etc.) were granted access to the builds, and even fewer were granted access to record them.
