Friday Night Nicktoon was a programming block created by Nickelodeon to rival with Cartoon Network’s Cartoon Cartoon Fridays.[1] It’s original time slot was 8 - 10pm before expanding to 7 - 10pm.
The block took place in a CGI animated place based on the Nicktoons Animation Studio in Hollywood[1]. The branding featured characters from different shows interacting with each other during the set.
Most Nicktoons from the block were seen in the intros or the bumpers for the block, the shows that were from its lengthy three years were:
- Rugrats
- Hey Arnold!
- The Fairly OddParents
- Rocket Power
- Invader Zim
- The Wild Thornberrys
- CatDog
- ChalkZone
- The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius
- My Life as a Teenage Robot
- SpongeBob[2][1]
It was then replaced by Prime Time Nicktoons on March 12th, 2004 before being changed back to its original name on September 24th, 2004, with new bumpers and an extended hour. It wasn’t until December 17th, 2004 when the block was completely removed.
