Status: Lost

Minecraft: Story Mode is an episodic point-and-click video game developed by Telltale Games, serving as a spin-off of Minecraft. The game follows Jesse and his friends, where they reassemble an old group of heroes known as the Order of the Stone to save the Overworld from the destructive Wither Storm.

The game was first announced on December 2014 as a collaboration between Mojang and Telltale Games. The first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode was shown during MINECON 2015 in July, however, the MINECON 2015 trailer used footage of an early version of the game, which had several differences over the final game.

Differences

There isn't a lot of information about the MINECON 2015 build, while several parts featured in the trailer got to be in the final game, there were a few differences which has led to speculation that parts of the story would have been different, but some scenes are thought to be done exclusively for the trailer. Some differences include:

  • Most notably, Lukas, one of the main characters, had a very different appearance, wearing a cowboy hat, sleveless jacket and shorter pants, leftovers of his original appearance can be found in the final game's files.
  • Ivor originally gave the diamond to Petra, in the final game, he doesn't give her a diamond and scams her with Lapis.
  • Jesse originally encountered a command block in a table in Ivor's basement.
  • There was a scene of Jesse's gang outside the Endercon Hall, although it is thought to be done exclusively for the trailer and promotional material.
  • The Ocelots also had different appearances, Maya originally didn't wear her ocelot jacket and Aiden originally wore a grey short-sleeved jacket with a white shirt. interesingly, Gill is nowhere to be seen throughout the entire trailer.

Availability

It is unknown if the MINECON 2015 build was ever playable or if it was shown on events outside from MINECON 2015, it is also unknown if a build of the original MINECON 2015 is still in possession of Telltale Games.
