'''A dub of the 2005 Doraemon anime''' was commissioned by LUK Internacional and began airing on Boomerang UK on August 17th, 2015. The dub was removed in October, but later returned to the channel briefly, from December 2015 to January 2016. Unlike Bang Zoom's dub, titled ''Doraemon: Gadget Cat from the Future'', LUK's British English dub is more faithful to the Japanese version and only has minor edits, such as using the name changes from said American dub. The dub was produced in Hong Kong by Red Angel Media; the same company who produced [[Shin Chan (LUK Internacional adaption, 2015)|a dub of ''Crayon Shin-chan'']].<ref>https://www.fso-createhk.gov.hk/en/production_search_result.php?pageno=2&Content1=Dubbing</ref> World Worm Studios composer Gary Gibbons was the musical director, producer and director for the theme song.<ref>http://www.worldwormstudios.com/news.php</ref>

Doraemon is a 2005 anime series based on the manga series of the same name created by Fujiko Fujio. The plot surrounds Doraemon, a cat-like time traveling robot attempting to steer Nobita Nobi, a boy who has a love interest and 2 frenemies often seen in episodes.

History

On July 17th, 2015, the LUK International website for Doraemon announced that the series would start airing on Boomerang in the UK on August 17th, 2015 at 7:30am. This was also announced on the Boomerang website as well. The dub was produced by LUK International and was recorded and dubbed at Red Angel Media in Hong Kong.[1]

The dub had some minor differences from the other English version of the dub, such as being more faithul towards the original Japanese scripts for translation.

It was briefly removed and revived several times before ultimately being removed from the lineup sometime in 2016, along with the page for the dub on the Boomerang website.[2]

Cast

  • Sarah Hauser as Doraemon
  • Muriel Hofmann as Noby (Nobita) and Little G (Jaiko)
  • Catherine Fu as Sue (Shizuka) and Tammy (Tamako)
  • Dave Bridges as Big G (Takeshi)
  • Ben Margalith as Sneech (Suneo)
  • Russell Wait as Toby (Nobisuke)

Availability

The dub was considered a failure in the English market and was taken out of the Boomerang lineup sometime in 2016 as mentioned previously. Due to the failure of the dub, it did not last very long and did not have much archival for it.

While a handful of recordings have resurfaced, the rest of the dub is still lost as of 2023. It is also not known if some episodes were left undubbed or not.[3]
