Adventure Time is an animated series created by Pendleton Ward and co-produced by Frederator Studios for Cartoon Network. The series follows the adventures of Finn and Jake on the land of Ooo.

In 2015, a feature film based on the Cartoon Network series was announced, although a synopsis and release date were not released. Over time, the film fell into oblivion until it was completely forgotten.

The film

On February 27, 2015, a feature-length Adventure Time film was announced, being produced by Chris McKay and Roy Lee, who had previously worked on The LEGO Movie. The series creator Pendleton Ward would have some involvement in writing and producing the film.[1]

In October 2015, showrunner and co-executive producer Adam Muto confirmed that Ward was still working on the film's premise, but there was "nothing official to announce yet." On August 31, 2018, Muto said the finale of the show would not affect a potential movie, nor would the finale lead directly into a film.[2]

On June 12, 2024, during the Annecy Animation Festival, it was announced that an Adventure Time film was in development, it is possible that this film will use elements from the original script.[3]

Availability

So far, nothing is known about the original script or whether the 2024 film will reuse elements from the original script.
