The shorts were aired between commercials on Boomerang and Cartoon Network. The french versionos were aired in Channel 3 in France (it has not been confirmed if other channels aired them). They are also available in some of the show’s DVD releases as Special Features. In some of the DVDs listings in Amazon, a user named “Teary Eyes” Anderson commented a list of some of Garfield’s TV series and specials DVDs<ref>https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R3H1G8PMGX22QF/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003VTKZCK</ref>, including all volumes of ''The Garfield Show'' up to volume 13. The list includes almost all the content that come in each volume, including shorts. Almost all of the DVDs said to contain shorts have been confirmed to have them as special features, either from walkthrough of the DVD on YouTube or beacuse the DVD box says it has Garfield Shorts as bonus content. The only one that haven’t been confirmed to have shorts in it is the “Its Showtime” DVD,  as it does not seem to exist any records nor walkthrough online.
Each DVD from the United States contains five shorts. Of the first season, only twenty-five out of the twenty-six shorts were released on DVD. Of the second season, only twenty-five shorts of twenty-eight were officially released. No shorts from season 3 or season 4 were ever released within the United States.

However, Anderson didn't list "Spooky Tails", "Dinosaurs & OTher Animal Adventures" and "Spring Fun Collection" shorts, confirmed by the DVD walkthrough, the vlog review, and the DVD box, respectevily. This could mean that others DVDs that are listed without shorts actually contain some of them. Aside from those, in the Techno Cat DVD box is said that includes oly one short, named "Honey I shrunk the pets", but it is unknown if it's from The Garfield Shorts or original to this volume.


In every DVD found to contain shorts in it, there are 5 shorts, and none is repeated in any of the other DVDs. Following this pattern, there should be 40 shorts in all the DVDs listed before. This could mean that there are 3 DVDs containing shorts that haven’t been confirmed yet: two with 5 shorts and one with 4, summing up to 54 shorts in total, as said by Mediatoon Distributions. However, if the "Techno Cat" DVD<ref>[https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/lzYAAOSwK05iNlI3/s-l1600.jpg]</ref> bonus short is actually from The Garfield Shorts, the remaining 4 (including that from "Techno Cat") might be in one volume each.

The french DVD release seems to be quite different to the english versions, although both include the french and english dubs. In the bluray for the 3rd volume are 16 shorts<ref>https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/3iEAAOSwmQxfhF6g/s-l1600.jpg</ref>. The 5th volume is said to contain 5 shorts, same as the english versions<ref>https://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/f51714-garfield-cie-vol-5-telerealite.html</ref>. It its also said on the Wikipedia article on The Garfield Show that every DVD release from 2015 to 2018 has 5 to 6 shorts included as special features<ref>https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garfield_et_Cie</ref>.
In the French Citel Video releases, all twenty-six shorts from the first season and all twenty-eight shorts from the second season were released on DVD. However, of the eighty songs for Season 3 and Season 4, only fifteen were released on DVD, with three released per DVD for volume 11 to 15, and none at all on volumes 16 and 17.


There are 40 shorts whose existence and name have been confirmed (or semi-confirmed by Anderson’s list and for the information in the DVD boxes) but only 23 shorts have been found online, most of them ripped from the DVDs and uploaded to YouTube, and a few being recordings of Boomerang/Cartoon Network. According to Mediatoon’s website<ref name=":0" />, production of the shorts began in 2010. However, the copyright on the first shorts have the year of 2008. They may have been released alongside the seasons of The Garfield Show. This would make sense because of the different themes they have by year: in the 2008 shorts, being visual comedy, that would have been produced with season 1 (released in 2009) and the 2010 shorts, being real life advice from Garfield, that would have been produced with season 2 (released in 2010 and 2011). No shorts have been found after 2010, although the songs that have been found are from 2011. This could mean that the 14 shorts remaining to confirm are from season 3 or 4.

It is not known where the song were first aired, but it is probable that they were shown between commercials as the shorts were. There is not much information about them, other than there are 80 songs in total and that they are songs from the show, using different clips of the show as well. From the 80 only 9 have been found. Most of these found songs’ copyright year is from 2011, meaning they could be part of season 2 or released between season 2 and 3 of the show. All the songs have been found in unofficial YouTube channels.

The Garfield Shorts (or Garfield tout court in France) is an animated show of 40 second episodes that served as promotional content for each season of The Garfield Show, produced by Dargaud Media and distributed by Mediatoon Distribution. The shorts aired on Boomerang in the EMEA regions. Produced in tandem with The Garfield Show, each season of the latter contains their own set number of shorts. According to Mediatoon’s website[1], there are 54 shorts and 80 songs: Season 1 contains twenty-six shorts, revolving around a running theme of visual gags. Season 2 contains twenty-eight shorts that serve as public service announcements (PSAs). For seasons 3 and 4, eighty shorts were produced, each one a unique song.

As the shorts in season 1 contain no dialogue, Boomerang in EMEA regions aired the shorts with English text. In France, the shorts aired on France 3 with French text. The shorts were included on both the American releases of The Garfield Show, released by Vivendi Entertainment and Cinedigm, and the French releases of Garfield & Cie, released by Citel Video.

Shorts

Each DVD from the United States contains five shorts. Of the first season, only twenty-five out of the twenty-six shorts were released on DVD. Of the second season, only twenty-five shorts of twenty-eight were officially released. No shorts from season 3 or season 4 were ever released within the United States.

In the French Citel Video releases, all twenty-six shorts from the first season and all twenty-eight shorts from the second season were released on DVD. However, of the eighty songs for Season 3 and Season 4, only fifteen were released on DVD, with three released per DVD for volume 11 to 15, and none at all on volumes 16 and 17.
