Hiwaga sa Bahay na Bato (lost Filipino TV soap opera; 1962-1963)
Hiwaga sa Bahay na Bato (lit. 'Mystery at the Stone House') is a Philippine television soap opera aired on ABS-CBN, back then on DZAQ-TV Channel 3. It is considered to be one of the first Filipino soap operas.[1]
Plot
A disfigured and monstrous hunchback (played by Ben David) lives under a rich hacendero (played by Dalton de Castro)'s stone house. The hunchback's love interest was played by Eva Darren.[2]
Background
The soap opera was directed by Jose Miranda Cruz. It was aired on Monday-Saturday, 6:30-7pm. It ran for about 4-5 months, from September 1962 to January 1963. It was said to be shot on Iloilo and the actors' language was vernacular, but the script of the soap was a localized version of Manila's own telenovelas. Many of the scenes were shot at night in the middle of a road.[3] Cruz went on to do make more soap operas such as Larawan ng Pag-ibig, Hanggang May Buhay, and many more.[2]

Availability
It is known that ABS-CBN's pre-1972 archives along with its properties and equipment disappeared after the raid of the military.[4] It is unlikely that ABS-CBN might have an archive of this series anymore and might be included on the archives that disappeared. However, a video from ABS-CBN posted in the Video 48 blog was posted along with the print ads, speculated to be one of the footage of it. The video is mysteriously unavailable now on YouTube and the episodes are yet to be resurfaced.
