Saturday Morning Sneak Peek is a half-hour-long Saturday morning preview special hosted by the comedy duo of Jack Burns and Avery Schreiber who preview the then-new Saturday morning cartoons on ABC the evening before their premiere the following morning. The special also starred Paul Winchell (as Goober), Mel Blanc (as Bugs Bunny), Daws Butler (as Yogi Bear), Rick Springfield and Chuck Woolery (as Superman). The special aired on September 7th, 1973 on ABC.[1]
Plot
In the special, Uncle Larry (played by Avery Schreiber) and Jack Burns attempt to set up a surprise party for Larry's nephew. While they attempt to set up the party, the performers for the party start to arrive, all from the then-new ABC Saturday morning line-up. The performers then start promoting their new cartoons for the lineup.
Availability
The special was aired well before the common availability of home video recording. Due to the nature of the special, and the likelihood of legal troubles, it was not rebroadcast. Due to these factors, the special fell into obscurity.
For a long time, no footage had resurfaced. However, on February 3rd, 2012, Josh Schreiber (whose dad Avery Schreiber starred in the special) uploaded the first 15 minutes of the special to YouTube. It is unknown if he has the entire special.
