John Smith: Special Agent was the original version of the 1992 NES version of James Bond Jr. The game is a side-scrolling 2D action platformer developed by Eurocom. According to Chris Shrigley, a programmer for the game, after the game was finished, they were unable to find a buyer and the team eventually abandoned it. The game was then picked up by THQ and reworked into James Bond Jr.
The source code of the version was leaked online by Chris himself on an unknown date. In November 2015, a prototype was found and sold on eBay by the Nolan Brothers.[1] Finally, on March 10th, 2016, Cutting Room Floor user CaH4e3 managed to compile it into a working ROM.[2]
