Throughout 2020, American professional wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling taped certain episodes of their weekly flagship show Dynamite, this was due to the COVID-19 pandemic and tapings took place at amphitheater called Daily's Place located in Jacksonville, Florida.[1][2][3] However during these tapings, a match between women's professional wrestlers Tay Conti and Abadon was taped but never aired.[4]

Background

American professional wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling from 2020 to 2021 taped matches that were scheduled to air on Dynamite every Wednesday and would also tape matches for Dark, a smaller-scale show usually featuring mid-card talent and independent or unsigned wrestlers that would air on YouTube.[5]

The Match

The match, which was taped on the Thursday the week prior,[6] was set to air on the October 28, 2020 edition of Dynamite.[7] No details on the match have been publicly revealed. At the time no fans were in attendance, so no crowd footage of the match exists. The match reportedly stopped when Abadon took an elbow to the throat by Conti and "couldn't breathe",[8] forcing the match to stop.[9] Abadon was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.[10] and was kept off TV until she returned in December of that year.[11] The match was pulled off the airing schedule[12][13][14] with reports stating fellow AEW wrestler Shawn Spears would feature in a match to fill the spot,[15][16] which ended up happening as a match between him and independent wrestler VSK occurred as part of the broadcast with Spears defeating VSK in under a minute.[17]

Availability

No footage of the match has resurfaced and as previously mentioned, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic no crowds were in attendance, therefore no crowd footage of the match or stoppage exists. The match most likely resides in the Warner Bros. archives and will most likely never resurface due to Abadon's injury.[18]
