Status: Partially Found

The Wiggles are a popular children's group that formed in 1991 in Sydney, Australia. They are known for their hits Hot Potato, Get Ready To Wiggle, Fruit Salad and many others. Between 1991 and 1998, they mostly released albums and videos and toured heavily and would gain popularity in Australia. By the turn of the century, the group gained globe popularity and their albums, videos, television shows and tours would become hugely successful. The group's third lineup of Anthony Field, Simon Pryce, Emma Watkins and Lachlan "Lachy" Gillespie have been together from 2013 to 2021 after the original lineup of Field, Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt and Greg Page disbanded with four new members Evie Ferris, John Pearce, Tsehay Hawkins and Kelly Hamilton joining the group in 2021[1][2]. Watkins left the group at the end of the year and Hawkins became the new yellow wiggle and her previous spot as the second red wiggle would be filled by back up dancer Caterina Mete. Over the band's 30 year career, many music videos were filmed and have seen a release either on home media or aired on television. However many music videos would be filmed and would never be released with some videos being cut from the group's videography due to time constraints.

Sailing Around The World

Sailing Around The World was the second video and album centered around Captain Feathersword (after the Captain Feathersword The Friendly Pirate video in 2000 and The Adventures Of Captain Feathersword, The Friendly Pirate album in 1993). Because of the video and album focused away from the group and on to Captain Feathersword and his friendly pirate crew that the video and album got negative reviews, though some fans appreciate the video and album despite the different tone. Every song from the album was filmed for the video but four songs that were filmed got cut from the final video due to time constraints. The songs being the title track, Hula, Hula, Hula Nothing Could Be Cooler!, The Pennsylvania Polka and Brisbane. The title track, although appears in the video, it is in animation done by March Digital who did other animated music videos for the group and the live action video never made the final cut. Only clips from the live action video were used in the video's intro. It wasn't until the episode "We're Taking A Trip Across The Sea" from the group's fourth television series (that aired three months after the video's release) that the live action video saw the light of day. Unlike the title track, the songs Hula, Hula, Hula Nothing Could Be Cooler!, The Pennsylvania Polka and Brisbane were not animated and were replaced with other songs the group did in years past like Fly Through The Sky, Let's Go (We're Riding In The Big Red Car) and Here Come The Chicken, all of which were animated. The video for Hula, Hula, Hula Nothing Could Be Cooler! was released on the Series Four episode Wiggly Friends, a brief clip of The Pennsylvania Polka was used in the show's intro, but has not appeared in any episode and nothing from the Brisbane video has been released. It's rumored that the videos appeared on a rare promotional DVD for Sailing Around The World[3]. While the DVD in question is confirmed to exist[4], it hasn't been uploaded online, making the rumor unconfirmed.

The Wiggles Go Bananas!

The Wiggles Go Bananas! is the group's third album and video to have contributions from other entertainers (after Yummy Yummy with Paul Hester in 1998 and Wiggly Safari with Steve Irwin in 2002) such as Kylie Minogue, Morgan Crowley (the group's third collaboration with Crowley since 2001) and John Waters. Every song from the album was filmed made it's way into the final video except for the Shel Silverstein cover of The Unicorn with Morgan Crowley. It was previously thought that the song was never filmed but photos of Crowley in an leprechaun costume and the group in Irish hats that appeared on the back of the album, booklet and North American DVD disc confirm that a video was filmed. It's unknown why it was left out of the final video.

Cancelled Sam Moran Video

When Sam Moran was still in the group, a new video was being filmed and would've been released after It's Always Christmas With You! in November 2011. The name of the video was never revealed and two songs are known to have been filmed, Rolling Down The Sandhills and French Barcarolle. The latter would be Simon Pryce's first appearance singing on a Wiggles song. It's unknown if other songs were filmed for this unnamed video or if production on the video was ever finished. In early January 2012, Moran would be let go from the group would be temporally replaced with founding member Greg Page (the person Moran replaced in 2006) and the newly-reformed original lineup would record and release the album and video "Surfer Jeff" in May 2012. Rolling Down The Sandhills was included on the video and album but used the original 2003 recording of the song and the video for Rolling Down The Sandhills in Surfer Jeff would depict Murray, Greg and Captain Feathersword playing with finger puppets of their respected character mimicking rolling down the sandhills and Anthony, Jeff and a new character "Gino the Genie" would physically roll down the sandhills. The Sam version of Rolling Down The Sandhills has never been released. The video for French Barcarolle was shot in 2011 during the band's Big Birthday tour and Sam is the only member of the group that doesn't appear in the video. The video or song has never appeared in Surfer Jeff and only a few behind the scenes photos of the video can be found online with two of them revealing that the camera operator was future yellow wiggle Emma Watkins. The video would be officially released on June 17, 2014 when Anthony uploaded the video to his YouTube channel[5].

Taking Off!

Taking Off! was the first album and video to feature the lineup of Anthony Field, Emma Watkins, Simon Pryce and Lachlan "Lachy" Gillespie. Most of the album and video was recorded while the previous lineup of Anthony Field, Greg Page, Murray Cook and Jeff Fatt were on the road and most of the video had performances on either a custom made stage in Hot Potato Studios or a stage similarly seen in the Celebration! video. The Shimmie Shake! is the only song performed on the Celebration! stage to have made it into the video, but another song performed on the stage Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car was left out of the video and only a photo from the performance has been released in the Taking Off! album booklet. Little Bunny Foo Foo in the final video was performed on the custom stage at Hot Potato Studios, but a separate video for the song was filmed outdoors and was completely different than what was performed at Hot Potato Studios while the whole group (outside of Lachy) dressed up as mice. It's unknown why this version of the song wasn't used.

Unknown Wedding Song

There is also a rumor that the song Marie's Wedding was recorded for the video because three photos of Jeff Fatt as a wedding vicar and Dorothy The Dinosaur and Wags The Dog are dressed as a bride and groom respectively (similar to the original video for the song seen in Hoop-Dee-Doo It's A Wiggly Party and various live performances of the song). Some have speculated that the photos could be unused shots for the song Meteorology (the Study of the Atmosphere), due to a lyric in the song referencing a wedding and a bride. These rumors have not been confirmed and the exact nature of the photos are unknown.

Wiggle Town!

During production of the short series Wiggle Town!, Anthony Field posted a clip of the song Michael Finnegan on his Instagram, where he is playing the titular character and playing the song on banjo on the Music Room set[6]. The song was performed in the series twice and neither had this version of the song. This version of the song remains unreleased and the clip Anthony posted is all that's left of the video.

Ready, Steady, Wiggle! 3

In Summer 2020, it was announced by Anthony Field that production on the group's twelve television series had begun and the show was to be titled "Ready, Steady, Wiggle! 3" and would feature songs specifically recorded for the series and no concert clips would be used[7]. Along with the announcement, several photos during filming of several songs were used in Anthony's Instagram story[8] and released in the group's official Instagram account[9]. The background of those songs would be used in the group's Facebook series "Wiggly World of Dance". From the photos, the known songs being filmed were Captain Byng with a Y, Simon's Cold Water Blues, Romp Bomp a Stomp, Six Months In A Leaky Boat, Do The Owl and Hula, Hula Baby. When the series premiered a year later on June 2nd, 2021, none of the videos were seen and the series had a very different look than what was shown in the photos with it being a downsized version of wiggle town. It's unknown what became of the videos or why the videos were never used in the series.
