Hannah Montana is an American live action children's sitcom starring Miley Cyrus that aired on the Disney Channel between March 24, 2006 and January 16, 2011 that also inspired a theatrical film in 2009. The series was allegedly set to receive an anime adaptation by Toei Animation, though the project was ultimately cancelled and was never officially announced.

News of the show leaked in May 2010 through a thread posted on the Daizenshuu EX (now known as Kanzenshuu) forums, a fan site devoted towards the Dragon Ball media franchise. In it, Wasted Wisher, an animator at Toei Animation Philippines, leaked the existence of a new Dragon Ball production meant to be a tie-in for a video game.[1] This would later be revealed as Dragon Ball: The Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans, which was bundled with the 2010 PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 release Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2.[2][3]

In the thread, Wasted Wisher stated that he had worked on Digimon Xros Wars and some sequences for an unannounced Hannah Montana anime.[4] He explained that Toei had begun development on the show in 2009. Four different artists were chosen to create pitches for the visual direction of the series. Two were later developed into music videos. At the time of his post, Wasted Wisher claimed that Toei Animation Philippines had begun full production on the series, with them now animating the show's first episode. He implied the series would be closer to the original than Toei's other adaptation of a western property, Power Puff Girls Z.[5]

This would be the only time the Hannah Montana anime series was ever referenced. Neither Toei or Disney publicly acknowledged the production. Wasted Wisher was later fired after Toei discovered he was behind a number of leaks, including production art for then unannounced Dragon Ball projects.[6][7][8][9][10][11]

The Dragon Ball stuff is pretty off-topic, but I feel it needs to said because it proves Wasted Wisher was an actual employee at Toei. Some random person might've had a 1 in a million chance to guess a Dragon Ball anime tie-in, but a random wouldn't have had access to production art months before something debuted.

Probably in Toei or Disney's video libraries. Since the series got cancelled while in-development, I'm not sure we'll ever see what was finished.

Guys News flash for people who say "Is this going to happen"

If there is an article made on this, and there is multiple references to it, then yes it was going to happen. Ryan

None of Wasted Wisher's posts indicate he kidding around about the Hannah Montana project. It might be possible he was confusing it with a different show, though given that time frame, I don't see what it could be. It could've been Suite Pretty Cure, which started airing in 2011, but I kind of doubt that. Wasted Wisher was well aware of the franchise (http://www.k...f918#p250822) and had no reason to keep something as mundane as the show's conceptual theme a secret. He was dropping far larger leaks for Dragon Ball stuff.

From a production standpoint, there's not much outlandish here. Toei and Disney have partnered multiple times on projects.

Okay when they Made an anime from PPG that made sense because they were superheroes to begin with and they just made them Magical Girl themed Heroes, and it grew a cult following over time, But Hannah Montana? Disney would rather leave Mouse Traps close to Mickey's bed than give this Franchise another chance!!!
