Ellen's Acres is an American animated television series made by Larry Schwarz for preschool-age children, which exclusively premiered weekly on Cartoon Network and in the United Kingdom, it aired on Cartoonito. It originally aired on September 4, 2006 on Cartoon Network Too in the United Kingdom, the day the Cartoonito block launched, and later on January 8, 2007 on Cartoon Network in the United States, airing at 9:30 am ET/PT, but was pulled from the schedule on February 5, 2007. The show features a very imaginative five-year-old child named Ellen who has adventures in a hotel her parents own approximately 39 miles outside Tonopah, Nevada named the Emerald Acres. The show was produced by Animation Collective.

Development

The show was pitched around late 2005 by Larry Schwarz and greenlit in January 2006. As seen in the late 2005 pitch pilot, it was originally going to be aimed at older audiences and more faithful to the book, with Ellen's design resembling that seen in said book. It was later reworked into a pre-school series with a different artstyle. It went on to run for 52 episodes (26 unaired in the US).

Status

After episode 26, it was shooed off Cartoon Network's US feed. However, episodes could be watched on the show's website, reruns aired on Cartoonito's UK feed until the 2010s and got three DVDs which comprise the complete first season in Australia. As of 2024, the rest of the episodes have yet to resurface online.
