Spaced Out (known in French, as Allô la Terre, ici les Martin) is a Sci-Fi French-Canadian cartoon that produced and aired on the European Cartoon Network, in 2002. It was co-produced by Alphanim (Now Gaumont Animation) Tooncan, Canal+, Vrak.TV, France 3, Sofica Gimages 2 and animated by Animation Enterprises Hong Kong Ltd. (Now Agogo Studios).[1]
This show is centers around a family surname the Martins consisting of George the father, Monica the mother, Betty the eldest daughter, Benjamin the youngest son, Gran George's mother, their pet dog Fax, and cat Goodgrief. George applies to a job at a company named Krach Industries. By accident, he gets accepted to being the director of a secret orbital station. So he and his family moves to the space station, where they have to live as an experiment started by Krach. They meet other people who have also been sent by Krach to live there, their neighbor who is also a teacher Mrs. Schuman and her son Bobby Schuman, a Russian cosmonaut who crashed on their space station named Boris Malakoff, and a guy who keeps switching jobs literally named Guy.
Availability
The show premiered in 2002 on the European Cartoon Network feed, and reruns were played until 2005. Episodes of this show are very strenuous to find online particularly in English. As the show wasn't promoted very well by Cartoon Network Europe, only airing the show on mornings and after midnight with the occasional mid noon slot. Although two commercials of the show that were uploaded onto YouTube, one used Jetsons theme song over scenes from the show that was an upload from 2006, and the other one using a scene from episode #20 that centers around Guy and Boris uploaded from 2011.
The show was released on DVD in France and Italy, but only contained a handful of episodes on them. The French DVD consists of a single volume with three episodes, while the Italian ones were released in three volumes each consisting of three episodes totaling of nine episodes.
The first four episodes of show were uploaded in Hungarian by YouTuber hudixyt in 2010. In 2013, three episodes (#15, #21, and #22) were uploaded in Danish by user TokyoMewMewFanBoy, both of which were from VHS TV recordings from when the show was still airing.
UPDATE 4/9/2015 A contributor has founded 3 Italian DVD's of the show on the Italian Amazon, it has a French, English, and Italian audio track, so if anyone on this wiki lives in Italy or wants to desperately watch this show in English please get the DVD's and switch the audio track to English and upload them to YouTube or another site, Thank you.
UPDATE 3/2/2016 A contributor by the name of "THGhost" has uploaded 8 episodes of the English dub from the Italian DVDs of the show, as well as 1 episode in Italian due to an error with episode #3 having the same English and French audio track as episode #4.
UPDATE 4/19/2019 YouTuber by the name of "Mes vieilles VHS" has uploaded all episodes (except for episode 16). Unfortunately it's in French.
UPDATE 12/6/2022 YouTube user "Randy Poffo" has uploaded 14 episodes of the shows Italian dub under the name "Gli Astromartin".
NEW FIND 2/12/2023 Youtube user "MIXXPOST" who may have worked at the shows animation studio on the overseas animation has been uploading episodes of the studios entire animation catalog, including Spaced Out. The first eight episodes were already available in English online. However because they were from an Italian DVD, some episodes had Italian subtitles for the alien gibberish dialogue, making it lost for English viewers. These new uploads are in much higher quality and are in full English. The user also has finally uploaded episode #3 in English for the first time on the public web. Its possible that he could have more episodes on hand he could upload in the future.
