Sym-Bionic Titan is an animated series created by Genndy Tartakovsky that ran on Cartoon Network from 2010-2011. It followed two teenaged aliens, Princess Ilana and her protector Lance, who was assisted by his robot Octus. When their home planet is taken over by the evil General Modula, the trio escape to earth. They disguise themselves as humans to help hide Ilana, attending a high school as cover. As a further defense, when they combine their power, they become a giant mecha robot called Sym-Bionic Titan.

Cancellation

In 2011, Cartoon Network announced that Sym-Bionic Titan would not be returning for a third season, as it later emerged due to the show's perceived lack of merchandise potential.[1] The available episodes re-ran on the network's Adult Swim block for a few months in 2012, and again in 2014. In a 2012 Reddit AMA, a fan asked Tartakovsky if there had been more episodes planned for the series, to which he replied:

"YES!! We wrote 10 more episodes for Sym-Bionic TITAN that were better than the first 20. It was tragic for me to not have a chance to do that."[2]

Despite this confirmation, no scripts or any other production materials have resurfaced. It is currently unknown if Tartakovsky still has any of it in his possession.

After its last run in 2014 the show was written off entirely alongside another Adult Swim series, Beware the Batman.[3] However in 2017, after Samurai Jack's revival wrapped up production, Tartakovsky expressed interest in also reviving Sym-Bionic Titan to give it a proper finale, reiterating that desire in 2023.
