Status: Lost

Chowder is an animated television series that aired on Cartoon Network for 3 seasons from November 2nd, 2007, to August 7th, 2010. It centers on the adventures of the titular character, as he works as an apprentice at Mung Daal's Catering Company.

In a leadup to the premiere of the series finale Chowder Grows Up, Cartoon Network ran a marathon of Season 1 episodes with pop-up trivia facts[1]. Promoted as the "Chowder Pop Up Marathon", it consisted of the first 10 episodes (20 segments) of the season, running from 2.30p.m. to 7.30p.m., with the series finale premiering after.

These alternate pop-up episodes were aired only once during the marathon, without being rerun by the network again. As a result, all 10 pop-up episodes have become missing, with only promos for the marathon resurfacing online, proving their existence.

Possible rediscovery and availability

On September 21st, 2022, a post was made on the "r/lostmedia" subreddit by a user known as "FranktheTank1996-21". In it, he states that he had recorded the series finale and two preceding pop-up episodes (presumably "Sniffleball" and "Mung on the Rocks") on VHS during the marathon itself. He also expresses interest in digitizing the VHS to DVD, though this has yet to be done.

It is highly possible that these pop-up trivia episodes were recorded by other fans of Chowder, which is potentially the only way these episodes can be found. Presently, it remains to be seen whether any of the 10 pop-up episodes will resurface online.
