The official website of Reagal Films (via retellings in specific YouTube videos and web archives) gives a premise to the film:


The movie hasn't reappeared on any website, other than some occasions on eBay, and no screenshots or trailers have resurfaced online, other than the cover, making the movie remain a complete mystery. No other information has been found on the plot, except the quote above. It has also been found that the kid on the cover is just a stock image found on Google Images. The reviews seen on the top of the cover are fake too, as the people that wrote them have no association with the magazines that they wrote for, and even then the magazines are found to be fake as well. This leads people to believe that the film is fake, but the barcode for the film can be seen here:

==Production==
The filmmaker (who is pseudonymized "Mr. Orange" for privacy reasons) wanted to create a family movie that pays tribute to the John Hughes films he watched as he grew up. He wrote a script and approached various filmmakers, including Jonathan Salami, who was involved in several of Reagal's films. Nevertheless, after talks with Salami and many others at Reagal, it was decided that the film was going well beyond the budget that would be given to Mr. Orange.  


The company that made the movie, Inovisim Films, is believed to be fake, because it doesn't have a website, and upon Googling it, only info for the movie comes up.
Mr. Orange also initially refused to make the film out of fear of Nickelodeon and Viacom's legal concerns. However, after a consultation with a lawyer, he was told to make the film if it were a parody. It would also help if it were live-action and acknowledged that it was entirely unofficial.


Some people speculate that the film isn't on Amazon because of Viacom's strict copyright policy, but supposedly, Nickelodeon actually gave out the rights to SpongeBob SquarePants's image so it could be used in the film.<ref>http://spongebobfanon.wikia.com/wiki/A_Day_With_SpongeBob_SquarePants:_The_Movie</ref> So now, it is unknown why the film hasn't gone back on stock on Amazon.
Mr. Orange set out to create the pitch cover for suppliers and manufacturers after speaking with his attorney. He requested Jorge Pacheco, an illustrator, to produce a drawing similar to the famous pineapple house. He also bought a picture of a child that jumped excitedly in the sky.


I also found a link to the quotes page for the movie on Rotten Tomatoes, and, oddly enough, when you click the link to visit the original RT page for the movie, it says "404: Page Not Found".<ref>http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/a_day_with_spongebob_squarepants_unauthorized_mockumentary/quotes/</ref> When I used the Wayback Machine to try and search to see if the movie had its own page in the first place, it wouldn't let me because of robots.txt. So this means I can't search for the film on Rotten Tomatoes to see if there is possibly more information there.
After the positive reception of his pitch cover, Reagal Films offered to help him by uploading it to Amazon to see if there is any demand via pre-orders. During pre-production, the movie was also given a barcode.

'''General Update 8/19/15''' Today, two people claiming to have the movie have come out of the blue. First, someone named "Slick Nick" messaged me on Facebook saying "hey i have a day with spongebob sqarepants the movie im going to upload it to youtube tomorrow in the afternoon. i rated the movie and gave it a 7 out of 10 the story was decent but the animation was alil strange and the voice was not convincing at all, heres a couple of screen shots". Copies word for word. The double space was there too. Of course, this turned out to not be true, because the screenshots were from a video called "SpongeBob SquarePants in Real Life". Another case was on 4chan, somebody claimed to have the film. He left a couple of "screenshots" and a photo of him supposedly holding the DVD case. This thread has yet to be proven false or fake. The thread can be viewed [https://boards.4chan.org/co/thread/75046468 here]. That will be all for Wednesday, August 19, 2015 unless more information pops up.

Status: Unproduced

A Day with SpongeBob SquarePants: The Movie is an unproduced, unauthorized mockumentary that Reagal Films and MVD would distribute. The movie has been postponed, but the producer plans to make the film through a crowdfunding effort.

Premise

The official website of Reagal Films (via retellings in specific YouTube videos and web archives) gives a premise to the film:

"In this mockumentary, SpongeBob lives above ground like all Hollywood superstars. Afraid that SpongeBob is becoming old news, his boss runs a contest called "Spend a Day with SpongeBob". The contest makes SpongeBob the talk of the town, as thousands of kids enter to win. The lucky winner is Seth, and he is ecstatic about his day with SpongeBob. However, the day becomes a roller coaster ride as things do not go quite the way they planned."

Production

The filmmaker (who is pseudonymized "Mr. Orange" for privacy reasons) wanted to create a family movie that pays tribute to the John Hughes films he watched as he grew up. He wrote a script and approached various filmmakers, including Jonathan Salami, who was involved in several of Reagal's films. Nevertheless, after talks with Salami and many others at Reagal, it was decided that the film was going well beyond the budget that would be given to Mr. Orange.

Mr. Orange also initially refused to make the film out of fear of Nickelodeon and Viacom's legal concerns. However, after a consultation with a lawyer, he was told to make the film if it were a parody. It would also help if it were live-action and acknowledged that it was entirely unofficial.

Mr. Orange set out to create the pitch cover for suppliers and manufacturers after speaking with his attorney. He requested Jorge Pacheco, an illustrator, to produce a drawing similar to the famous pineapple house. He also bought a picture of a child that jumped excitedly in the sky.

After the positive reception of his pitch cover, Reagal Films offered to help him by uploading it to Amazon to see if there is any demand via pre-orders. During pre-production, the movie was also given a barcode.

However, the development of the film was still faced with financial problems; the movie thus was born into development hell. On August 3rd, 2016, it was announced that a crowdfunding effort would be launched in September of that year to produce the movie. However, the crowdfunding effort has not yet been made.

The Search Team Behind the "Lost" Film

Several users on The Lost Media Wiki put together a search effort on a now-locked forum thread to find the "lost" mockumentary. Various conspiracy theories regarding the production of the film emerged.[1]

The search gained the attention of the news site Gawker, and Youtube personality RebelTaxi,[2] who made a renowned video about it.

French website Motherboard also talked about this "lost" mockumentary as one of the most-searched-for pieces of lost media after Cracks had been found.[3] The search effort has been featured on Bedhead Bernie's Animation Warehouse.

Please note that the information in these videos and articles is now outdated and was speculative regarding Reagal Films, its employees, and the many other theories surrounding A Day With SpongeBob SquarePants: The Movie.

Conclusion

Since Bedhead Bernie found a corresponding phone number in a free classified ad, Lorenzo Holley was successfully contacted on May 6th, 2016. During the calls, Holley said that the film would be released via crowdfunding. He also denied that Reagal's official website hosted malware. As of yet, the crowdfunding effort has not been launched.

On August 3rd, 2016, Bedhead Bernie and the team Ongoing Mysteries created two concluding videos for the search after contacting Mr. Orange. Mr. Orange clarified that Reagal Films is only a film distributor and is not a front for any money laundering scheme.[4] Among debunking many other theories surrounding the film's search effort, he also released five undeveloped film script pages. All of which can be viewed in the videos below.
